ABOUT

When Dawn Kohler owned her salon in Winnetka, Illinois, her clients got a sweet deal. Not only did they get beauty treatments, but they were also treated to a sampling of the one of the owner’s homemade sweets. To Dawn, it was just another way to share the joy of her baking hobby, and “test” her recipes.

Naturally, her children, family and friends have also coveted her comforting baked goods. Each year her children and their friends vote her brownie as the “Best Chocolate Fudge Brownie of the Year.” Not that it’s a necessary annual proclamation, but it does ensure they will have the opportunity to satisfy their cravings for the chocolaty morsel. Incidentally, Dawn says the brownies have more frequent flier miles than her, as they have been shipped to chocolate aficionados throughout the country.

Time and time again, all who indulged in the delights said to her, “You should sell these!” And, so the story of Sweet Considerations began.

Dawn packed up her beauty implements and got to work in the kitchen. Sweet Considerations specializes in “comfort” desserts to include brownies, cookies, tea breads, tarts and cakes, to name a few. Every dessert is handcrafted, made in small batches, using only the finest, all-natural, premium ingredients. Her attention to detail ensures that each batch is infused with perfection and goodness.

Her delectable sweets can be found in specialty food stores and restaurants throughout Chicagoland. They frequently appear on dessert tables for parties, celebrations and business meetings (or, should we say, disappear?).  Many recipients have had the luscious treats bestowed upon them as holiday gifts, care packages, get well wishes and for a variety of occasions. It won’t be long before the company will be fulfilling sales on the internet.

Through Sweet Considerations, Dawn gains immense satisfaction from nurturing people and knowing she has created something delicious for them to enjoy.

It comes as no surprise that her icons include Martha Stewart and Chicago pastry chef, author and host of Food Network’s Sweet Dreams, Gale Gand. However, Dawn’s greatest influence comes from her grandmother who as a fabulous baker, instilled the passion in her at a young age. Over the years Dawn gathered, tested and refined recipes, learning through trial and error with interest and zeal. It was a great journey with many sweet rewards, she says.

Dawn was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She has two grown sons and one “amazing” grandson, who she is looking forward to passing on the joys of baking when he reaches the age to do more than lick the spoon.
